11.09.2022Aaahhhh, urinating. The old school method of marking ur own territory. Some just don't go along with it becuz it could originally be their turf as well and so you have to fight for it. It's a big risk but if you manage to succeed, there's a big reward already waiting for you. Territory!

11.09.2022It’s been fun to see u play this on the channel! (Brings back a lot of memories for me. I discovered the devblogs for the new update since they were first developing it back in 2017 and it fascinated me a ton–hadn’t played it since 2010 and honestly thought it was dead, so it’s exciting to finally see all their big ideas and hard work coming to fruition. They’ve come such a long way from what the game once was. It’s so cool to see.) Love watching Isle gameplays as well as WolfQuest stuff, so this new addition only adds more things for me to get into on the channel!
Considering you’re a newbie on accurate mode with mate permadeath on, you ain’t doing that bad at all! 👍🏼
Plus it was nice playing with u and the others on multi the other day (I was Tala). My first time involved in a livestream gameplay, but it was a ton of fun and the teamwork was poppin lol. I’ll have to play multiplayer more.
But keep up the good work. Good stuff right here.

11.09.2022Some future gameplay tips I heard from beta testers and devblogs:
(Buckle up, this will likely be a long list)
• If a pup gets lost, go to your scent view to find them. You can track their pawprints to find where they wandered to.
• The ideal buffer of hexes between your den’s hex and the other packs’ territories is 2 full hexes—preferably on all sides.
• Dispersal wolves will wander around or through your territory at times. They’re not usually a threat to your pups, but their presence in a hex can lower its strength.
• When a predator has targeted your pups, a red blinking icon of the predator in question will appear under your wolf icon.
• If a cougar is stalking your pups nearby, if u woof for the pups to go into the den it will attempt to dash for a pup, so make sure u spot it first. Besides that they’re easy to chase off and don’t put up a fight.
• You can hit the T button for a first person mode headcam to look for an eagle easier during an attack. U can still move freely in any direction when you do this, if it attempts to dive, run at it and it will chase it off. No fight involved. As long as you’re close to all your pups, the eagle won’t get a good opportunity to dive and will eventually give up and fly off. But of course, woofing them into the den first is always the best option to keep the pups safe from any predator.
• Yes, mule deer will go for the water when chased. Prey will often do this in real life in order to avoid predators, they’re quite the clever stinkers.
• You can also change your favorites emote list around if you wish. You can assign any other emote to a number key in the favorites section, that way all u have to do is hit a button to use the emote. Just delete emotes from your favorites to make room for the replacement ones of your choice right click your mouse, do the same to add one.
• If a bear or cougar snatch a pup, you still have a chance to save it as they don’t kill it immediately. Chase after it and attack it to make it release the pup. Cougars are more flighty, but bears can be persistent and might try to grab the pup again if given the chance.
• Be careful about doing the roll emote around the pups a ton, u can’t get out of the action if a predator happens to appear to attack your pups.
• The Woof (go home) emote is to tell your mate to return to the den to watch the pups. Whine will invite them to go with you. And secondary howl will call them to you if you’re far out and decide you need them. BUT the mate (and pups) can only respond to the first two commands if they’re within earshot.
• Because of the 50 different gene variants the devs incorporated into the pup/mate A.I. system, (besides being used to determine their coat colors and tints) it also determines their stats and personalities based around the stats and personality you chose for your wolf, as well as your mates’. You can decipher what kind of personality traits they might have by observing them.
Every wolf in the game (including other pack wolves) is set with a personality that will fall somewhere between the extremes of bold—cautious, loner—social, energetic—lazy. Bolder wolves will do more confident, use dominate emotes and won’t be easily intimidated by danger, cautious wolves will assess a situation more before jumping in during a hunt and will know when it’s best to cut their losses and run, lazy wolves will lie down more and help less, energetic wolves will often do more work as mates and be antsy, lone wolves will wander off alone (like to eat a chunk) or as mates: might go on solo hunting/marking trips more often, and social wolves will interact more, want to be around others, and social leaning mates will look at u more often when u run together.
• All NPC predators are programed to assess situations and act accordingly depending on the circumstance, and their species. A lone wolf on patrol is more likely to run and be easily
intimidated if it’s outnumbered in a confrontation, but if it’s 2v2 or they have 3 or more, they’re far more likely to act aggressively and refuse to back down. Killing one is often the only option besides running away to get them to leave u be. Coyotes are little threat to a grown wolf during a carcass confrontation, but if the numbers are in their favor they might be bolder and decide to harass you and nip at your heals to attempt to chase u off a kill. It doesn’t do much damage, but it does interrupt your eating and can get annoying and even dangerous if you’re already low on health . Foxes won’t ever attack u as they are always alone and far too small to fight a wolf. Cougars are flighty but will still put up a nasty fight if food is involved and they have a powerful dashing lunge swipe that can take hundreds of points from your life in one hit but doing a few well timed aggressive emotes and bites can up their chances of giving up. Bears of course, don’t give a crap about u since they’re at the top of the food chain, so it’s usually always wise to leave them be and let them have the carcass. Especially if you’re on your own.
• Rendezvous sites are out in the open and are in various places in the map, try and take note of where they are situated near you so you know the closest one to travel to when the time arrives. You can identify one by the large lone tree in the center of a clearing will tall patches of grass. The tree will be bare and looks like its been charred by lightning.
• Pups can get sick in the game. This can also be determined by how well you and your mates genes are. Black coated wolves have better health overall, but two black wolves together are almost always a bad mix for pups, and often create smaller litters and give them a bigger chance of having bad health. If a pup gets sick, try not to sleep too often, as time will pass quicker and their health will thus deplete faster as well. Stay near them as much as u can and keep them away from the other pups to reduce their chance of catching it.
• Sometimes a bald eagle might drop a fish by mistake. You might find one laying around near a body of water, makes for an easy meal if you’re lucky enough to find one.
• When another wolf is biting you, rapidly press the left and right buttons back and fourth to squirm free quicker. Doing so is useful to avoid a ton of damage, but will drain your stamina quicker as well.
• The elk migrate to different areas of the map throughout the season. As they did in the Amethyst Mountain map when they migrated down into the valley during winter to graze, the elk herds will now eventually migrate back up into the mountainous areas of the Slough Creek Map as Spring comes and more greenery is available there. The Slough creek floods in spring as a result of all the melted snow run-off from the mountains, so they don’t have as much room. Keep that in mind when setting up territory so u can be where the elk will be and won’t have a territory area that’s more difficult to navigate because of the flooding.
• When hunting an elk calf in Amethyst mountain, dashing and growling at it can help intimidate it to start running. Your best opening for a bite when this happens is if the mother runs ahead of it. U can back off and allow them to try to run back to the herd, where often the injured calf will fall behind the mother and give u the same chance to strike.
•Growling and running through large herds of elk can also help to scare them enough into running if they’re standing their ground. Some herds will be more spooked than others, and if it’s only one wolf among a large herd it will be harder to convince them that you’re dangerous enough to run from, and u may have to find a smaller or more skittish herd.
• When the time comes for the Elk and Deer to have their newborns in summer, pay attention to a change in music to a new track when around a lone female elk or deer that isn’t running. That means she’s likely a mother who just gave birth and has a baby hidden in a tall patch of green grass nearby. The newborns are too weak to run and an easy meal if the mother doesn’t run in to smack u. If the music stops when you’re searching that means you’re out of range of the area where the baby is located. If u find and kill one, they’re small enough to carry back to the pups.
• Don’t try and swim if you are carrying a deer or elk newborn! It will be too much weight and effort to swim with and your wolf with drop it in the water and lose it.
