03.04.2023The lack of tactics is going to hurt me and my mother so much… She has arthritis in her hands and I've nerve damage in my left hand so we're slow to react in games now. Dragon Age offered action with the ability to take your time without consequence, which swiftly made it our favourite rpg…
Also gutted they're limiting the world, I loved exploring the open world in DA:I, finding the fun Easter eggs and taking in all the visuals was most of the fun for me… I really REALLY hated DA:2 with the way they stream lined and limited exploration so I pray it's a happy medium between Origins and Inquisition

02.04.2023Since this dragon age would take place in tevinter hopefully they introduced perepatae (a tevinter discipline designed to train slaves nd to kill mages without using lyrium)

02.04.2023the hack and slash combat is such a let down. I miss old bioware

02.04.2023I'm worried. While it would be nice to have origins back; the other big changes leaves me with less confidence than idlike . It can of course come to change. I'm happy as long as it feels like a dragon age game and not another game wearing a dragon age skin.

02.04.2023Personally I’ve never really utilized tactics or the tactical camera, this change will probably make combat more engaging for me.

02.04.2023The change in combat from Origins to DAII was pretty amazing for me. I dont see why the tactics system is too boring for some. Besides, yelling at my screen of “Alistair for the love of god drink a health potion” is me already issuing commands.

02.04.2023Honestly I never really used the Tactics tools i found it clunky and slowed things down. I was actually surprised that others loved it. I seem to be in a small percentage.

02.04.2023Hack and slash… no thanks. This disheartens me so bad.
Captain Maverick
02.04.2023I'm actually fine with combat shifting to be more like Mass Effect. I just hope it isn't God of war difficulty.
John Daniel
02.04.2023I don't like how a lot of these "takes (x) mechanic from (y) game" As though there has never been a power/ability wheel or a focus ability in the previous entries…

02.04.2023🤔 think I'm gonna pass on this one! The change in play Mechanics is NOT my cup of tea 🍵! I'm not a fan of the God of War/over the Shoulder/3rd person style combat 📸 camera!

01.04.2023I definitely liked DA:2 fast paced and action packed fighting style. I definitely want more action, super dramatic bloody take downs of bosses. I’d like more cut scenes and such. So I think I definitely would like a hack and slash if done right. I felt that DA:I was anti climactic in most fighting scenarios and I didn’t personally care for the menu. Hopefully the game is a 10/10. I just want to see character creator leaks, lol. Who is our hero?! 😂

01.04.2023Sounds like a huge letdown

01.04.2023What's truly disappointing here is their trend of giving up what was truly unique about Dragon Age games and just trying to mimic other popular games. It began with Dragon Age II, then continued with Inquistion which tried to be the Witcher 3 and bring open world, that turned out to be empty and boring, and now we have it with them attempting to be the God of War.
My favorite Dragon Age game is still Origins, and I don't mean nostalgia. The system relying on strategy, full of many different spells and such, where enemies use exactly the same moves as you, is just so unique and fun that I would hope to see it continued. But no. Bioware lacked confidence, so each game is doomed to poorly try to imitate something it is not…+

01.04.2023Considering Bioware's recent outings, maybe Fighting class options will take a Hack 'n Slash approach while Ranged options would work as a third person shooter with Offensive and Support options (hopefully emphasize companion aid in combat). That the game was leaked must suck for them, but I'm admittedly grateful as it's helped managed my expectations for this one. The changes will prove divisive (a series staple) but I can only hope it comes together for them in the end. Whether that ends up being the case remains to be seen.

01.04.2023If dragon age wants to be the new Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Or Fable I'm down

01.04.2023I never once used the tactic system.
Revan-on-Xbox
01.04.2023I never even used that slowed down feature…it realyl didnt make a difference in the outcome…i thought it mostly took the immersion out of the game…i wont miss it…but not controlling your followers …i dont know about…seems like it will be like witcher 3…that game did okay…i didnt like fast pace of the second game…it seemed cheap not fleshed out…if that makes any sense…with that said i'll play the game regardless…the only deal breaker would be game play always in the isometric view like diablo…then i wouldnt play no matter how good…i hate that they ruin a game with that.

01.04.2023Honestly don’t mind the combat changes, as long as the core of the game remains. That is superb storytelling, fantastic characters, stellar worldbuilding, and meaningful decision making.
We get all that, I won’t mind playing hack and slash rather than tactics. I say that after literally just finishing Knights of the Old Republic II, a Bioware classic.
Ich bin Ben.
01.04.2023I really hope they don't do away with tactics. I don't want fast paced, action focused combat, I want tactical gameplay! I loved the combat in Origins, precisely because of that! I didn't like how in DA2 the combat was so fast and chaotic, and tactics weren't really needed, you could get away with just controlling your own character. In Inquisition it was a little better again in some ways, but they also got rid of the in-depth tactics menu and made it pretty bare bones. Didn't bother me too much because I like to set up what my party members do manually anyway, but if Dreadwolf completely does away with tactics, doesn't let me pause and zoom out, or manually control my party members, that would suck!
I already don't like how little the DA games have in common apart from the story. The artstyle, skills, spells, crafting, combat, dialogue system, pretty much all game mechanics are so different from one game to the next. Building on and improving what is already there is one thing, but if how the game feels to play changes completely with every entry in the series, the continuity and the overall feeling of "This is still the same world" really suffers. They refuse to give the series an identity of its own.
I want Dreadwolf to be good, I want to continue to play in that world, but I want it to feel like Dragon Age, and with every title in that franchise it becomes less clear what that means.

01.04.2023No one ask for that combat change. The only change we wanted was more impactful and less gimmicky hits, like in origins (but more fluid). They seem to have gone in the other direction entirely. They clearly want to appeal to more casual gamers, wich is often the sign of a dying franchise.

31.03.2023I still remember when I complain about Dragon Age 2 lol, Jesus what have they done with this series? Next we will find out that there is microtransactions .

31.03.2023Honestly Jack, all concerns are understandable at this point. It's been 8 years and so much has changed. Thanks for keeping us up to date! 🙃

31.03.2023I'm concerned. When development of any game undergoes as many disruptions and restarts as this one has, it's never a good thing. Pull devs off to go work on something else, then toss them back again, lack of clear focus and direction of where they want to go with this thing, watch as key writers, developers and directors leave the company — it's all alarming. We've seen this too many times in the past when games have just stumbled along, hoping to get it right somewhere along the way, only to discover it's just a hot mess in the end.
I love the Dragon Age series. I still play all three games. But Dreadwolf is one that I'm not exactly looking forward to. As I get older, I've gotten more cynical and far less forgiving of crap excuses for poor performance or end results. I'm tired of having to make allowances for bad choices. They're swimming in money and still don't get it. Talent requires freedom and support. Initiative requires stable and secure foundations that can handle new ideas. Streamlining is not always the best way to go with things. It's just the easiest.
The best solution to a problematic open-world game is not returning to a linear method of storytelling and gameplay. It's finding new and exciting ways to fill a space with something other than emptiness and/or fetch quests. Real-time combat is fine, especially when the AI for companion characters is so faulty that issuing commands means they will mostly be ignored anyway. But if I'd wanted to play God of War, I'd happily go and play God of War. There's something to be said for being unique and distinctive and you shouldn't get points for mimicking some other game simply because it makes coding this one easier.
I don't quite make the leap to playing as a Grey Warden who happens to be an elven knight class as some indication that the game will be a return to an Origins type game. I think that's quite an assumption, particularly since we have absolutely nothing else to go on but that tiny snippet which may or may not really have anything to do with the final product.
I worry that the game is still quite a way off from being released. And that too worries me because essentially it could mean that every leak thus far could be completely tossed in favor of some new direction. But if they are actually closer to finishing than would seem, that worries me as well because I never trust the idea of overhauling game code at a late stage to remove content no longer in development without severely hampering or affecting the remaining code in significant ways.
All games are buggy and glitchy. BioWare games have far more than their fair share. But a game that undergoes so much revision is just begging for trouble. Whatever happens, however things develop, whenever the game is finally finished and released, I know I'll most likely be prudent to wait at least a year for all of the inevitable patches and mods to be released before even thinking about buying it. So, for me, it's still going to be a good long wait.

31.03.2023Homestly I dont want Dragon Age: God of War or even Dragon Age: Diablo.
I want Dragon Age. If its not Origins, DA2 or even DA:I, then im probably gonna wait till this game is discounted cause tbh, if I wanted to play any of those other games, id just boot em up. This is not looking to be a good DA game for me. Especially since I tend to main Mages.
Thel S
31.03.2023These leaked rumors put the game in a no thank you category for me. Still, so far they are just rumors so still hoping it turns out to be a good game. DaO and DAI are some of my fav games….So I'm a fan of the IP.
Cijun94
31.03.2023The last thing I want to play is an elven knight… I always play a mage in Dragon Age! D:
MXIII
31.03.2023Didn't the whole god of war comparison come from one dude who 'saw' the leak and had never played a dragon age game and nearest comparison he could think of was god of war?
Then every news site ran with it as their headline as if it was 100% solid fact?
From what I saw the combat pretty much looked like what it's been since DA2 but with less floaty movement..
A lot of people seem to have forgotten that the series has been basically hack and slash with a pause menu for longer than it wasnt.
To be honest as long as the combat is satisfying and the progression system is still there im way more concerned with the story and interactions being awesome. That's what's always been the most important thing to me in dragon age.
Austin Clark
31.03.2023They really have ruined a good franchise.
Origins was a masterpiece and tactics and rpg elements are big with what made dragon age special.
Making it more actiony is awful.
I think Bauldurs Gate 3 will take over my interests. I like what Larian Studios is becoming the new Bioware.
Anna Hall
31.03.2023Personally, I only ever used tactics in origins for a few specific fights but it was nice to have the option if I wanted it. I won’t miss it much, but I am sad to see it go.
JadeDragon
30.03.2023No. No. No. No hack and slash!! It gets so dull!!! And with the amount of side quests and encounters a dragon age game has… No. The entire fun part of the combat style is having to figure out the best strategy, not the strategy just being spam!! I mean, still going to buy the game to see what Solas does, but that doesn't mean I'll like it. Who knows, maybe the back and slash will turn it into DA:2
S C
30.03.2023I love the open world on DA:I. It was fun to hear random convos, items, finding new random things and lore pieces. But with the changes i feel like this may just be the last Dragon Age game. 🤷🏾♂️
Bomb Yo
30.03.2023Hack and slash is cool if the story is like the 1st games and the powers have to be spectacular.
Dave
30.03.2023They killed this franchise when they decided to retcon the lore they established because it offended people.
Steven FH
30.03.2023Wow no tactical pause / crpg and no party control? It is not a dragon age seties that I know, it's just a generic hack and slash mmorpg style in 2023. Clearly not surprising coming from a modern Bioware, I have low expectation and still feel dissapointed by this. 85% a pass from me
Andrew Jacques
30.03.2023Looking forward to the game play change. Playing the older games combat really felt sloggy so I'm super excited for that change. And not once did I ever feel the need to control the companions so not bummed their either. Origin stories is super rad though! So far nothing sounds too unpleasant though im not excited about more linear gameplay. Shame the move away from open world. It really was more enjoyable and gave a reason to explore
Mateja Savic
30.03.2023I honestly didnt care for the tactical camera nor do I have the time and patience to play my games like that so this is a good change for me
Penny Christopoulos
30.03.2023😵💫 this is scary…I depend on my buds in a serious fight. I am struggling to imagine how it will work. I don't like changes in game play.🧐
Penny Christopoulos
30.03.2023My only idea for this is if they are going multi-player but I thought the trashed that idea?
ASAFYY
30.03.2023Whats going on with them???? this game take 4 ever
Santiago
29.03.2023They really dropped the ball on Dragon Age. They literally had DA4 made and ready in 2016 and scrapped that whole game for nothing.
it’s been nearly a decade and am worried that after this game DA will be cancelled for poor sales because they’ve done really nothing to hype up the release.
They could of at least remastered the old games..
DLON
29.03.2023I don't trust BioWare. Their last several games have been mediocre to say the least. They are not the studio they once were. I don't trust them with the story and the characters. I don't think they respect their own lore anymore, and I don't trust them to keep their own politics out of the game. All my senses are screaming that this will be a massive disappointment. The best Dragon Age game is still the first. Origins.
Thomas D
29.03.2023When BioWare sits there scratching their heads why Dread Wolf flopped they should learn something from Larian and Blizzard. Refine your systems for the existing fan base; do not pull the rug out from under their feet.
Bethany Almond
29.03.2023See Elven knightclass makes me go knight enchanter rather than some form of warden – makes more sense when you think about it in terms of the dreadegg
Random Yutuber
29.03.2023So we go from 20 different tactic options in DA:O to a few in DA:2 to potion use in DA:I to nothing. The worst part of all the updates is that everyone makes the game worse than the previous one. DA:O had all of the functions, just not the graphics. Now we are getting all the graphics and no functionality.
Amanda Sebring
29.03.2023So many people have been begging for a return to Origins style tactics. I'm starting to think Bioware doesn't really care what we want 😢
Orpheus
29.03.2023think they're removing multiplayer to release the game quicker and only focus on the thing fans have actually been telling them they want for 10 years (story)
Bionickpunk
29.03.2023The leaks dont sound promising, quite the opposite.
dudeman vex
29.03.2023I’m hopeful for a return of origin stories particularly hopeful to see a cool mage origin maybe a tevinter noble forced to join the grey wardens due to courtly intrigue
